Bangladesh: Bangladesh Under-23 team was denied a virtually certain victory after rain forced the abandonment of their Game Development Trophy (GD Trophy) match against the Under-17 side at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur today.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Bangladesh U17 team, after being put into bat first, struggled against a disciplined U23 bowling attack and were bowled out for just 59 in 23.5 overs. Asadullah Hill Ghalib top-scored for the U17 side with 18 off 29 balls. Captain Hasan contributed nine off 20 balls, while Rifat Hawlader also added nine from 33 deliveries.

Sheikh Parvez Jibon was the standout performer for the U23 bowlers, taking five wickets for just six runs. Rizan Hossain and Nuhayel Sandid supported him effectively, claiming two wickets each.

When the U23 team began their chase of a modest 60-run target, they reached seven without loss in 1.4 overs. However, rain interrupted play, leaving them needing only 53 more runs for victory. Unfortunately, the persistent rain prevented the teams from resuming play, leading to the eventual abandonment of the match and leaving both sides with one point each.
