Dhaka: BNP acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Tuesday expressed confidence that Bangladesh will bounce back under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, despite ongoing conspiracies aimed at undermining their party.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Rizvi made these remarks at a rally in Uttara, organized to mark the 48th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). He emphasized that, despite various conspiracies, BNP has remained undefeated and will continue to thrive in the future. Rizvi assured that Bangladesh is poised to become self-sufficient in all economic indicators under the guidance of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
Rizvi reminisced about the country’s economic struggles in the early years following independence, describing a period when Bangladesh was plagued by poverty and famine, forcing people to eat mango leaves between 1972 and 1975. He credited the late President Ziaur Rahman, a patriotic leader, for striving to protect the nation’s independe
nce and sovereignty, which ultimately led to his assassination in what Rizvi described as a conspiracy involving both domestic and foreign actors.
The BNP leader asserted that a political party founded by a patriot and freedom fighter like Ziaur Rahman could not be eradicated. Rizvi also paid tribute to former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, highlighting her resilience in the face of persecution and her unwavering commitment to the people until her passing.
Rizvi concluded by reiterating that the BNP, having stood by the people and led by a leader who remained with them until her death, will not be defeated. He expressed optimism that Bangladesh will regain its strength and achieve economic self-sufficiency under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
