Rajshahi: Train services between Rajshahi and other districts remained suspended on Tuesday after a carriage of a train derailed near Harian railway station. Ziaul Islam, Station Manager of Rajshahi Railway, said two wheels of the carriage, locally known as ‘Ta’, of the Rajshahi-bound Dhala Char Express train from Pabna, veered off the tracks around 11:30am, halting train movement.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the trolley attached to the wheels of the carriage broke down about 200 yards after the train left Harian station, causing two wheels to derail. A relief train from Ishwardi reached the spot and conducted an operation to remove the derailed carriage, the station manager said.
Earlier in the morning, train movement on all routes from Rajshahi remained suspended for around one and a half hours after a section of railway track broke in Lokmanpur area of Bagatipara upazila in Natore district.
