Dhaka: A modern slaughterhouse in the city's Hazaribagh area, under Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), formally started operations on Monday. DSCC Administrator Abdus Salam inaugurated the facility at a ceremony held in the morning.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Salam highlighted the modern slaughterhouse as an important milestone in DSCC's efforts to protect public health. He emphasized that the facility examines animals by livestock experts or veterinary surgeons prior to slaughter. Furthermore, the meat is processed automatically in a hygienic and sterilized environment without direct hand contact, ensuring that consumers receive safe and contamination-free meat.

Salam encouraged citizens to verify the origin of the meat before purchasing it from markets, stressing the importance of ensuring that animals have been slaughtered in certified facilities. He expressed optimism that the modern facility will contribute to providing healthier and safer meat for the city's residents.
