BMD Forecasts Light to Moderate Rain Across Bangladesh

Dhaka: Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast light to moderate rain across the country in the next 24 hours commencing 9am on Monday. 'Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely at many places over Rangpur, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country,' the BMD stated.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the rainfall is expected to continue over the next five days. Teknaf recorded the country's highest rainfall of 68mm in the 24 hours till 6am on Monday. The BMD also noted that day and night temperatures might fall slightly across the country during this period.

The axis of monsoon troughs runs through Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, the center of the well-marked low to Assam across southern Bangladesh. Monsoon is currently fairly active over Bangladesh and is strong over the North Bay.
