Rangpur: US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen visited a cattle farm, dairy production facility, and a traditional oil press in different areas of Gangachara upazila in Rangpur today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the visit began at Paragon Dairy Farm in the Khaparikhal area of Betgari Union, where Ambassador Christensen examined the operations involving 1,200 cows imported from the United States. During his visit, he engaged with officials to discuss various aspects of cow care, including food management, milk production, processing, and breeding activities. Mashiur Rahman, Managing Director of Paragon Agro and Dairy Farm Limited, along with AGM Mejbah Uddin and other officials, provided insights into the farm's activities. Ambassador Christensen also tasted the milk produced on the farm.
Highlighting the potential for mutual cooperation, Ambassador Christensen emphasized that improved genetics and quality animal feed play a crucial role in enhancing the productivity of Bangladesh's livestock. He added that these agricultural endeavors are opening new market opportunities for US farmers and exporters. The visit underscored the commercial potential between the agricultural sectors of the two countries.
Later, the Ambassador visited a local traditional oil press mill at Chandaner Hat in Betgari Union. There, he learned about the process of producing oil from mustard seeds by engaging with the mill workers. Accompanied by his wife Diane Dow and US Embassy officials Nicole Clarissa Besnard, Syed Faizus Salehin, and Political Specialist Firoze Ahmed, the visit was attended by Rangpur Divisional Livestock Department Director Dr Md Abdul Hai Sarkar, Additional Superintendent of Police of Rangpur District Police Sharif Mohammad Farukuzzaman, Gangachara Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdus Sabur, and Upazila Livestock Officer Mahfuzur Rahman.
Following the visits, Ambassador Christensen departed Gangachara to inspect the Teesta Barrage Project located at Dalia under Dimla upazila of Nilphamari district.
