Dhaka: Two people died of dengue and another of suspected measles in Khulna division in the past 24 hours, as the two diseases continue to spread in the region. Khulna Divisional Health Director Dr Sheikh Md Mosharraf Hossain disclosed the information today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the latest health department report indicates that 145 new dengue patients were admitted to government hospitals across the division between 8am Friday and 8am Saturday. Among these, 85 patients were admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) and 44 to Khulna General Hospital. The two dengue patients who died were undergoing treatment at KMCH.
Currently, 649 dengue patients are receiving treatment at hospitals across the division. Since January 1, a total of 5,322 dengue cases have been reported in the division, with 19 deaths recorded.
Meanwhile, 33 new suspected measles patients were admitted to hospitals in the past 24 hours, while one suspected measles patient died in Khulna district. Since March 15, the division has recorded 10,089 suspected measles cases, including 365 confirmed cases. The number of deaths among suspected measles patients has risen to 35.
