Lalmonirhat: A 14-year-old girl, Hazera, drowned while bathing in a pond in Aditmari upazila on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred in the Borokamlabari area of Kamlabari union, where Hazera, along with her 10-year-old sister Fahima, went for a bath near their house.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Hazera ventured into deeper water and disappeared from sight. Fahima, upon realizing her sister was not resurfacing, quickly informed their family. Despite immediate efforts by locals to locate Hazera, their search was unsuccessful.
A team from Aditmari Fire Service and Civil Defence, led by Warehouse Inspector Nitai Chandra, responded promptly to the scene. However, the team was unable to retrieve Hazera due to the pond's depth. Consequently, a specialized diving team from Rangpur was summoned. The divers managed to recover Hazera's body after a 30-minute search and subsequently handed it over to her family.
