Dhaka: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Farida Khanom today emphasized that children with intellectual disabilities can become valuable assets to the country if they receive proper care, education, training, and suitable opportunities.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Farida Khanom highlighted that disability should not define the limits of a person’s intelligence, talent, and potential. She cited the example of world-renowned astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, who made remarkable contributions to unraveling the mysteries of the universe despite severe physical disabilities. His life, she noted, stands as a testament to how physical limitations cannot hinder human intelligence and aspirations.
Farida Khanom made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at a program organized at the Liberation War Museum of Bangladesh Police in Rajarbagh, Dhaka. The event marked the 10th anniversary of ‘Mayar Badhon,’ an organization dedicated to the development of differently-abled children.
The program was chaired by Mayar Badhon President Mst Fowzia Yasmin and was attended by representatives of civil society, parents, members of the organization, and differently-abled children.
