Dhaka: Karnaphuli Fertilizer Company Limited (KAFCO) has deposited Tk 25 crore 40 lakh 72 thousand into the Bangladesh Workers Welfare Foundation fund, reaffirming its commitment to workers’ welfare and corporate responsibility.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Industries, Commerce and Textiles and Jute Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir handed over the cheque to Labour and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury at the Ministry of Commerce. The cheque handover ceremony was attended by Industries Secretary and KAFCO Chairman Md Abdun Naser Khan, Bangladesh Workers Welfare Foundation Director General Mohammad Quddus Ali Sarker, KAFCO Chief Corporate Officer Saidur Rahman, and other officials.
Under the Bangladesh Labour Act, both local and multinational companies are mandated to deposit one-tenth of 5 percent of their annual profits into the workers’ welfare fund. KAFCO has consistently contributed to the Bangladesh Workers Welfare Foundation fund since the start of its operations, underscoring its ongoing dedication to supporting workers’ welfare.
