Bogura: At least five individuals, including three children and two elderly people, were injured in separate incidents involving a rabid fox in Dhunot upazila of Bogura. The attacks occurred on Tuesday, resulting in all victims receiving medical treatment at the Dhunot Upazila Health Complex.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the victims have been identified as Nurul Islam, 65, from Sadarpara; Siam, 4, and Nasima, 60, from Jingirtala; and Rohan, 7, and Riazul, 3, from Pechibari village. The incidents unfolded at various times, with Nurul Islam being attacked while cutting grass in his field around noon.
In Jingirtala, Siam was playing outside his home when the fox attacked. Nasima was bitten when she attempted to protect the child and fend off the animal. Similarly, Rohan and Riazul encountered the fox while they were playing near their home in Pechibari.
The victims were promptly taken to the health complex by their relatives for necessary treatment. Dr. SM Sumonul Haque, a medical officer at the complex, stated that there is an adequate supply of rabies vaccines for those injured in animal attacks. He emphasized that health workers are actively promoting rabies awareness and advised anyone bitten by an animal to seek immediate medical care and adhere to the vaccination schedule recommended by a doctor.
