Dhaka: The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, commemorating the birth and death of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), is being observed across the country on Wednesday with due religious reverence and solemnity. The day marks the 12th of Rabiul Awal of the Hijri calendar, when Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born in Makkah, bringing messages of peace for humanity and also passing away on the same day.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the government and various organisations have arranged extensive programmes to honor the occasion with respect. The national flag has been raised atop all government, semi-government, autonomous offices, and private buildings. Important roads and key locations in the capital have been adorned with national and colorful flags and banners featuring the Kalima Tayyiba.
The Islamic Foundation has planned a series of religious and cultural events, including Qirat and Naat recitations, poetry readings, cultural competitions, and an Arabic Khutba writing contest. A month-long Islamic book fair is taking place at the south plaza of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, organized by the Islamic Foundation.
Bangladesh Television (BTV), Bangladesh Betar, and other electronic media outlets are airing special programs, while newspapers are expected to publish special supplements for the occasion. Bangladesh missions abroad are also observing the day with solemnity and respect.
President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman have issued messages extending greetings to Muslims in Bangladesh and around the world. The President highlighted the Prophet's (PBUH) exemplary life of truth, justice, forgiveness, and compassion, emphasizing the relevance of his ideals in today's conflict-ridden world.
The Prime Minister called upon people to follow the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to foster a peaceful and humane society. He underscored the Prophet's embodiment of Quranic teachings and his commitment to upholding human dignity and rights across societal divides.
Both leaders urged citizens to embrace the Prophet's teachings, advocating for peace, justice, and humanity in their personal and social lives. They expressed hopes for peace, equality, and prosperity in Bangladesh and globally.
