Dhaka: BNP Acting Secretary General and Prime Minister's Political Adviser Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today emphasized the importance of maintaining strong engagement between ruling party leaders, activists, and the public to prevent unethical practices. He made these remarks while speaking to journalists following his tribute at the graves of BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rizvi, along with party leaders and activists, offered prayers at Zia Udyan in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. The event was attended by Water Resources Minister Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anne, State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque, Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Md Abdus Salam, BNP Joint Secretary General Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel, and numerous BNP central committee leaders and activists.
Rizvi highlighted the Prime Minister's efforts in ensuring accountability through various programs, asserting that the BNP would not engage in activities contrary to public interest. He attributed the party's popularity to the welfare contributions of its founder, Ziaur Rahman, and the late Khaleda Zia, particularly in women's empowerment and economic development.
He also praised BNP's capable and eldest son, Tarique Rahman, for implementing new programs that have resonated with the populace. Rizvi encouraged party members to aid in executing these initiatives, which he believes will further bolster the party's appeal.
Rizvi cautioned against unethical activities by party members using the BNP's name, advocating instead for constructive engagement and strengthening the party's structure. He urged local leaders to support competent candidates in upcoming union parishad elections, emphasizing that future elections will not feature party symbols.
Addressing recent surveys, Rizvi stated that BNP's popularity remains strong at 54 to 56 percent, and the Prime Minister's personal approval is even higher at 65 to 66 percent. He reaffirmed that a government working for the people will always remain a people-oriented social government.
