CSB Conducts Comprehensive Training on ESG and Sustainability Reporting

Dhaka: The Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) has conducted a training programme titled 'Leading with ESG and Sustainability: Strategy, Compliance and Business Excellence' at a city hotel. The initiative aims to enhance the knowledge and understanding of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and reporting among its members, corporate officials, and other professionals.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the training session commenced with a welcome speech from Prof. Dr. Feroz Iqbal Faruque, Chairman of the Sustainability and ESG Sub-Committee of ICSB. The programme was inaugurated by Mohammad Shahajahan, President of ICSB, who emphasized the significance of sustainability as an integral part of modern business practices and organizational decision-making.

Md. Sharif Hasan, Vice President and Coordinator of the training, expressed gratitude to the attendees for participating in the timely training. He introduced the resource persons and outlined the objectives of the programme. The session featured insights from Md. Shabbirul Alam Chowdhury, Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of ICSB and former executive director of Bangladesh Bank; Meer Sajed Ul Basher, Principal and CEO of Sajed Meer Chartered Accountants; Shadman Sakib Anik, Executive Director of ESG Institute Bangladesh; and Professor Dr. Suborna Barua from the University of Dhaka's Department of International Business.

Throughout the training, the resource persons provided an in-depth overview of ESG fundamentals, governance, integrity, and sustainability reporting. The programme concluded with an interactive discussion session, where participants raised questions regarding the practical challenges of implementing ESG and sustainability practices. The resource persons addressed these queries, sharing practical insights and recommendations.

A significant number of ICSB members, along with senior officials from banks, finance companies, insurance companies, and leading corporate houses, attended the training programme. The event concluded with Mohammad Shahajahan, President of ICSB, distributing certificates to the participants, followed by a vote of thanks from Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun, council member of ICSB.
