Dhaka: Health officials today said they recorded 671 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least two persons in the past 24 hours.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported that of the 671 cases, 70 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 83 in Chattogram division, 119 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and 130 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas. Additionally, 133 cases were reported in Khulna division, 35 in Mymensingh division, 92 in Rajshahi division, six in Rangpur division, and three in Sylhet division.
Since the beginning of the dengue outbreak, Bangladesh has witnessed 76 deaths while the disease has affected 26,272 individuals this year. In comparison, last year the dengue outbreak resulted in 413 deaths and infected 102,861 people across the nation. The projections for 2024 indicate that dengue could claim 575 lives and affect 101,214 individuals, signaling an ongoing public health challenge.
