Doha: Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani assured on Wednesday that Qatar would extend all possible support to Bangladesh in ensuring energy security, particularly under the current challenging circumstances.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the Qatari Prime Minister described Bangladesh as a brotherly country during a meeting with Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman at his office in Doha. During the meeting, Dr Khalilur Rahman conveyed the greetings of Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to the Qatari leadership and expressed Bangladesh’s solidarity with Qatar. He commended Qatar’s constructive and responsible role in promoting peace, security, and stability in the region, which he noted is important for the wider region and beyond, as stated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed congratulated Dr Khalilur on his election as President of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly. He reiterated Qatar’s commitment to extending its support and cooperation for the successful discharge of Dr Khalilur’s responsibilities.
Dr Khalilur Rahman extended an invitation to the Qatari Prime Minister to visit Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time. Following this meeting, the Foreign Minister met with Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Qatar, to discuss issues of mutual interest.
The meetings were attended by Adviser to the Prime Minister for Finance and Planning Dr Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir, and senior officials from both sides.
