Jashore: A man was killed and two others critically injured in a road accident on the Jashore-Dhaka highway in the Hamidpur area of Sadar upazila early this morning. The deceased was identified as Neshar Uddin, 60. The injured are Anik, 23, and Zia, 55. All three were traveling in the mini pickup and were residents of the Elliotganj area of Daudkandi upazila in Cumilla.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a covered van was parked beside the highway in Hamidpur when the mini pickup lost control and crashed into the van. Locals rescued the three occupants from the wreckage and took them to Jashore General Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared Neshar Uddin dead.
Jashore Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Masum Khan confirmed the incident and said legal proceedings in connection with the accident are underway.
