Dhaka: Police have arrested nine wanted and convicted accused in separate operations in the capital, including two convicts sentenced to five and three years in jail and a fugitive wanted in six warrant cases. Uttara East Police arrested convicted accused Kazi Shamsur Rahman, 35, and Sabana Akter Juni, 30, during a special drive in Uttara on Tuesday night, said a press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid at a house on Road 8 in Sector 6 of Uttara at around 11:30 pm and arrested the two. Shamsur Rahman had been sentenced to five years in prison, while Juni was sentenced to three years.
Meanwhile, a team of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit arrested Anisur Rahman alias Humayun, 55, from the Shantinagar residential area under Paltan Police Station. The CTTC’s Research and Development (R and D) team conducted the raid at around 3:30 pm Tuesday based on confidential information. Anisur was wanted in six cases, including five cases carrying CR conviction warrants and one general CR warrant. Police said legal proceedings against the arrestees are underway.
