Dhaka: State Minister for Road Transport and Bridges and Railways, Habibur Rashid Habib, emphasized the importance of integrating sports and cultural activities with academic studies to foster comprehensive development in students. Speaking at the annual prize distribution ceremony for the 2026 merit list, sports, and cultural competitions at Nabiyabad Islamia Dakhil Madrasah, he highlighted the need for students to develop intellectually, physically, and mentally.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Habib underscored that achieving good academic results alone is insufficient. Students must also be imbued with moral values, discipline, patriotism, and humanitarian qualities. He urged educational institutions to provide ample opportunities for students to engage in sports, cultural activities, and creative endeavors alongside their regular academic curriculum.
“Sports instill discipline, leadership qualities, and a spirit of mutual cooperation in students, while cultural activities help develop their creativity and mindfulness,” Habib stated. He further noted that education is a pivotal tool for nation-building, as today’s students are the future leaders of the country.
The state minister called for a holistic approach in education, advocating for the nurturing of students with both moral and humanistic values, in addition to contemporary knowledge, to ensure they can effectively contribute to the country’s development.
