Dhaka: BNP Standing Committee Member and Prime Minister’s Adviser Nazrul Islam Khan on Tuesday highlighted the efforts of veteran journalist and writer Maruf Kamal Khan in reviving the public interest in political figures who had been forgotten despite their significant contributions to the nation’s history.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Nazrul made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at the publication ceremony of Maruf Kamal’s latest book, ‘Rajnitir Sodore-Ondore’, held at the Jatiya Press Club. The book, published by Sucheepatra, aims to shed light on the contributions of several political figures who were overshadowed or deliberately overlooked.
Nazrul emphasized that the book is more than just a historical account; it serves as a catalyst for enhancing political consciousness among readers. He commended Maruf Kamal for his dedication in bringing to the forefront the significant, albeit lesser-known, contributions of these political personalities. This, he noted, offers a new perspective on Bangladesh’s political history.
The event also saw participation from several distinguished guests, including Culture Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury, Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon, and former Information Minister Prof Abu Sayeed, among others. Each speaker praised the book for its insightful revelations and its potential to educate the public about important historical figures who have been sidelined over time.
