Dhaka: Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu has emphasized the government's unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and livelihoods by reducing disaster risks and fostering a safer, prosperous, and environmentally-friendly Bangladesh. "Our journey will move forward more firmly in the coming days with the people," he articulated while addressing a ceremony at the Narayanganj Dockyard, where 11 rescue boats were distributed to the coastal districts, each receiving one.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister highlighted the persistent challenges faced by the coastal areas, which are frequently battered by storms, tidal surges, and floods, making the inhabitants prone to recurring calamities. The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief consistently supports the coastal residents, ensuring they have access to safe shelters during such crises.
The event was graced by Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh SAIDA Shinichi, State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief M. Iqbal Hossain, Member of Parliament Abul Kalam, Secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Mohammad Saiful Islam, and JICA Bangladesh Office Chief Representative TAKAHASHI Junko, all of whom addressed the gathering as special guests.
