Chapainawabganj: At least ten people lost their lives and 22 others were injured in separate road accidents across four districts today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, in Chapainawabganj, four young men were killed in two separate incidents in Shibganj upazila. The first accident involved two motorcycle riders losing control and falling into an under-construction culvert in Muslimpur area on the Chapainawabganj-Sonamasjid highway. The victims, Habibur Rahman and Abul Hayat, were truck laborers from Baliadighi Madhya Bazar area. Shibganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Matiur Rahman confirmed the incident and stated that the bodies were handed over to their families.
In a separate accident in Chapainawabganj, Asad and Md Jaber Ali were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and their motorcycle near Soleman Degree College. Asad died at the scene, while Jaber Ali succumbed to his injuries at Shibganj Upazila Health Complex. Officer-in-Charge Matiur Rahman confirmed the fatalities.
In Sirajganj, a collision between a truck and a pickup van at Patdhari Bazar on the Dhaka-Pabna highway resulted in the deaths of a pickup van driver and a milk trader. Sub-Inspector Kishore Kumar of Hatikumerul Highway Police reported that the truck collided with the pickup, instantly killing milk trader Saddam Hossain. The pickup driver, Rezwan Hossain, later died at Sirajganj Medical College Hospital. The truck driver fled the scene, and the police have seized the vehicle involved.
In Dinajpur, a schoolboy named Sifat Raihan was fatally hit by a bus on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj highway. Inspector Md Shahidul Islam of Phulbari Police Station confirmed the accident, which occurred as Sifat was on his way to school with his mother and sibling. Despite efforts to save him, Sifat succumbed to his injuries at Phulbari Upazila Health Complex.
In Gopalganj, a head-on collision between a bus and a truck in Sadar upazila claimed three lives and injured at least 20 others. Inspector Md. Shafiul Alam from the Boultali Police Outpost reported that the accident took place at Boultali Bridge area on the Gopalganj-Tekerhat highway. The police, along with firefighters and local residents, recovered the bodies and rescued the injured. The identities of the deceased remain unknown, and the death toll could rise due to the critical condition of some injured individuals.
