Dhaka: The government has appointed Md Sirajul Islam, former executive director and spokesperson of Bangladesh Bank, as a member of the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA). He will assume the role of Member (Administration) of the insurance sector regulator on a three-year contractual basis.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the appointment was officially announced through a notification issued by the Insurance Wing of the Financial Institutions Division under the Ministry of Finance. This decision is in line with Section 5(2) of the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority Act, 2010.
The circular stipulates that Islam must terminate all professional affiliations and working relationships with other institutions before taking office. His compensation, including salary, allowances, and related benefits, will be established through a formal agreement with the government. The Financial Institutions Division emphasized that this order takes immediate effect in the public interest.
