Dhaka: The four newly appointed members of the Standing Committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) today paid tribute at the graves of party founder and Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. They visited the graves situated at Zia Udyan in the capital and later participated in prayers and a munajat seeking eternal peace for the departed souls.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the newly appointed members of the National Standing Committee are Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed, Aman Ullah Aman, Professor Dr. Farhad Halim Donar, and Md Ismail Jabiullah. The ceremony was attended by BNP leaders Habibur Rahman Habib and Mir Sarafat Ali Sufu, among others. The appointments of these members to the BNP National Standing Committee were made on August 15.
In discussions with journalists following the tribute, the newly appointed members expressed their commitment to working under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to implement the BNP's election manifesto. Standing Committee member Ruhul Kabir Rizvi emphasized that the current government plans to build the country in alignment with the BNP's philosophy.
Aman Ullah Aman stated that through the efforts of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and public support, voting rights have been restored, and the nation has been liberated from fascism. He assured that this government, which he described as one of the people, will continue to provide services by standing beside them.
Professor Dr. Farhad Halim Donar noted the rapid progress under Tarique Rahman's leadership, highlighting the achievements of Ziaur Rahman during his three-year tenure. Md Ismail Jabiullah asserted that the BNP possesses a rich political tradition, and they are committed to fulfilling the opportunities ahead successfully.
