Bhola: A woman was sentenced to death and fined Tk 50,000 on Tuesday in a case filed over the killing of her husband in Bhola. Judge Md Enayet Ullah of the Bhola Additional District and Sessions Judge's Court handed down the verdict in the afternoon.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the prosecution detailed how Farhad Hossain Titu, aged 40, was summoned to the residence of his second wife, Nurunnahar Begum, on the night of October 23, 2021. His bloodied body, showing injuries from a sharp weapon, was found the next morning in Alinagar Union of Bhola Sadar upazila.
In the wake of Farhad's death, his first wife, Mahmuda Begum, filed a murder case against six individuals, including Nurunnahar. However, after a thorough investigation, the police reported that there was no evidence implicating the other five accused in the murder.
Nurunnahar was detained for a prolonged period during the investigation and trial process but was subsequently released on bail. On the final day of the hearing, after arguments from both the prosecution and defense, the court ordered her return to custody, where she has remained since.
State lawyer Advocate Alhaj Habibur Rahman Bachchu stated that both the prosecution and the plaintiff expressed satisfaction with the court's verdict.
