Prime minister's office: Extensive public engagement and the implementation of electoral pledges have been highlighted as the major achievements of the government within its first 180 days, according to Mahdi Amin, the Prime Minister's Office spokesperson. He emphasized that the government has moved forward with a sense of responsibility and accountability to the people, holding numerous public engagement programs where citizens have shown their support in large numbers.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mahdi Amin, who also serves as an adviser to the Prime Minister, presented an overview of the government's activities and accomplishments under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. Speaking at a views exchange meeting at the PMO in Tejgaon, he underscored the government's commitment to implementing election manifesto promises as a cornerstone of its first six months in office.
Amin highlighted the government's strong adherence to democratic values, freedom of expression, and human rights, asserting that no political repression occurred during this period. He noted the government's patient and tolerant approach to freedom of expression, even when faced with provocation and indecent behavior.
The spokesperson lauded the vibrant and spontaneous nature of parliamentary activities, where lawmakers engaged in robust discussions and critiques. More than 100 ordinances were converted into laws, including the anti-terrorism ordinance, which institutionally banned a terrorist political organization.
Highlighting the government's achievements across ten major areas, Amin cited unprecedented public support, democratic values, electoral pledge implementation, and successful handling of domestic and global challenges. Other areas included inclusive development, financial sector reforms, law and order stability, justice, infrastructure development, environmental protection, national sovereignty, dignified foreign policy, and Tarique Rahman's distinctive leadership.
Amin acknowledged the challenges of rebuilding Bangladesh from past issues but expressed confidence in the government's sincerity, commitment, and responsibility under the Prime Minister's leadership. He emphasized the government's dedication to building a prosperous, self-reliant Bangladesh centered on public welfare.
Amin praised Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's leadership style, noting his efforts to break the VIP culture and connect with ordinary citizens. He described the Prime Minister's active participation in grassroots programs and his simple lifestyle, earning the public's deep emotion and love.
The meeting, moderated by Prime Minister's Press Secretary AAM Saleh Shibly, also included remarks from other government officials and advisers, who answered journalists' questions. Attendees included State Ministers and advisers, along with various media representatives and government officials.
