Mymensingh: Two children drowned in a pond at Sateropara village in Trishal upazila of the district this afternoon. The deceased were identified as Md. Mashrafi, 5, son of Md. Ashraful Islam, and Farhan, 3, son of Tarikul Islam. Both children were cousins and lived in neighboring houses in the village.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Officer-in-Charge of Trishal Police Station Md. Mansur Ahmed confirmed the incident. The two children were playing near their homes when they apparently entered the pond with mud-covered bodies and drowned.
Family members, upon realizing the children were missing, began searching for them. They spotted one of the children floating in the pond. Local residents then searched the water and recovered the lifeless body of the other child. The children were subsequently taken to Trishal Upazila Health Complex, where on-duty doctors declared them dead.
