Ropa Aman Seeds Distributed Among 200 Farmers in Kaptai

Kaptai: Free seeds of transplanted Aman paddy were distributed among more than 200 farmers affected by recent natural disasters in Kaptai upazila of the district today. The seed distribution programme was organized by the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) at Kaptai Agriculture Office premises at 10.30am.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the distribution was part of a larger initiative under the free high-yielding transplanted Aman seed assistance programme. This programme targets farmers whose Aman rice fields were severely damaged by recent floods, providing them with vital resources to resume cultivation. The initiative is being implemented as part of the 2026-27 fiscal year programme aimed at supporting affected farmers in the region.

Kaptai Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Raihanul Islam inaugurated the event as the chief guest, while Upazila Agriculture Officer Ahsan Habib chaired the programme. Both officials emphasized the importance of this initiative in aiding the recovery of the agricultural sector in Kaptai, ensuring farmers can return to their livelihoods after the destruction caused by natural calamities.
