Youth Held with Gold Bar Worth Tk 25.62 Lakh in Jashore

Jashore: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a young man with a gold bar weighing 116.62 grams during an operation on the Jashore-Chuadanga road here today. The arrested man was identified as Kabir Hossain Nayan, 30, son of Ismail Hossain of Sutia village in Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga district.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BGB members of the Jashore 49 Battalion arrested Nayan from an area near Churamonkati railway crossing on the Jashore-Chuadanga road at noon. Lieutenant Colonel Golam Mohammad Saiful Alam Khan, commanding officer of BGB 49 Battalion, stated that a team of the BGB took position in the area based on confidential information and intercepted Nayan.

A search of his body led to the recovery of a gold bar weighing 116.62 grams. He mentioned that "The estimated market value of the recovered gold is Taka 25,62,141." BGB said legal action is being taken against the arrested man.
