Jamalpur: An Assistant Judge of the Jamalpur District and Sessions Judge Court was killed in a road accident in the Lahirikanda Bazaar area of Jamalpur Sadar Upazila early today. The deceased was identified as AKM Samiul Haque, 27.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Jamalpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Najmus Sakib reported that the judge was travelling to Jamalpur town by a private car. When the car reached the Lahirikanda Bazaar area around 4am, it crashed into the rear of a stationary truck loaded with iron rods beside the road.
Following the collision, the judge and the car driver were rushed to Jamalpur General Hospital, where the attending doctor declared AKM Samiul Haque dead. The driver was admitted to Jamalpur General Hospital in critical condition.
