EC Publishes Draft List of Vote Centers for Upcoming Local Government Elections

Chattogram: The Election Commission has released the draft list of vote centers for the impending local government elections, including those for the Chattogram City Corporation, Upazila Parishads, Pourashavas, and Union Parishads, along with a draft summary detailing the voter numbers per center.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the total number of voters participating in the local government elections is over 1.15 crore, with more than 4,200 vote centers and in excess of 22,000 rooms designated for the voting process. This draft list marks a significant step in the preparatory phase for elections across various administrative areas, including the Chattogram City Corporation, 16 Upazila Parishads, 14 Pourashavas, and 189 Union Parishads.

The Election Commission has set a deadline of August 18 for the submission of any claims or objections concerning the draft list. These submissions must be made in writing. The notice, signed by Senior District Election Officer Mohammad Bashir Ahmed, outlines that these claims and objections will undergo a verification process. The relevant appellate authority is tasked with hearing and resolving these issues by August 23. Subsequently, the final list of vote centers is scheduled for publication on August 27.
