Bhairab: Six restaurants in Bhairab have been fined a total of Tk 2.75 lakh for storing and selling rotten, stale, and artificially colored food. The penalties were issued during a mobile court operation at the Food Zone of Nadi Bangla Center Point on Baradia Road in Bhairab municipality.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the mobile court authorities discovered that several restaurants had stored rotten and stale food from the previous day, with the addition of artificial coloring, in their refrigerators during the raid. This led to fines under the Food Safety Act for storing and selling food deemed unsafe for consumers.
US Bangla Restaurant faced a fine of Tk 25,000, while Ocean Bite, Chhoto Mama, Narsingdi Food Zone, Crespi, and Narsingdi Kabab were each fined Tk 50,000. Bhairab Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (Land) A.H.M. Azimul Haque emphasized that storing or selling food that poses a risk to public health is unacceptable. He also stated that the authorities would continue to conduct such operations against establishments involved in unsafe food practices.
