Fudan University Delegation Explores Academic Collaboration with Dhaka University

Dhaka: A seven-member delegation from China's Fudan University, led by Vice President Dr. Chen Zhimin, today paid a courtesy call on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam at his office. The delegation included Prof. Ping Zhang, Prof. Yin Zhiguang, and Prof. Zheng Yu from Fudan University, alongside DU officials Prof. Dr. Md. Rakibul Hoque and Dr. Yang Hui.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting centered on discussions to initiate dual-degree programs in artificial intelligence (AI) between Dhaka University and Fudan University. Dr. Chen highlighted Fudan University's willingness to support visiting fellowships for DU faculty, aiming to bolster academic activities and research on AI governance.

The dialogue also explored avenues for expanding collaboration through joint research and publications, as well as exchange programs for teachers, researchers, and students. Both parties emphasized the significance of enhancing communication, sharing knowledge, and fostering research cooperation to elevate the quality of higher education. They agreed to formalize the partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the earliest opportunity.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam expressed a strong interest in widening academic and research collaboration with Fudan University. He underlined the potential for creating more learning and research opportunities for young scholars. Reflecting on the enduring friendship between Bangladesh and China, Prof. Islam noted that numerous Bangladeshi students pursue higher education in China annually.

Prof. Islam conveyed optimism that the enhanced cooperation in education and research would further solidify bilateral relations. He also sought Fudan University's support in expanding collaborative academic programs and increasing scholarship opportunities for DU students seeking higher studies at the Chinese institution.
