Lalmonirhat: Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu has emphasized that the eradication of social crimes requires a robust social transformation alongside law enforcement efforts. He urged public involvement to ensure sustainable development.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, in an exclusive interview at his residence in Ambari village, Dulu expressed concerns about social changes and contemporary issues. He highlighted that sustainable development goes beyond infrastructure, stressing the importance of moral values and a safe society in curbing social crimes like drugs, gambling, child marriage, and dowry.
Dulu identified drugs as a main source of family unrest and social degradation, advocating for collective resistance against such evils. He commended the "Alokito Lalmonirhat" organization for its role in raising awareness and preventing social crimes, noting its efforts in collaboration with the administration. The organization connects people from all walks of life, with many showing interest in abandoning social crimes and returning to a normal life. Dulu expressed hope for the movement's expansion nationwide.
He also remarked on the government's development programs, which are improving living standards through initiatives like canal re-excavation, social safety nets, farmer support, and women's empowerment. However, he emphasized that controlling social crimes is essential for sustainable development benefits.
Regarding the Teesta Master Plan, Dulu stated its implementation is a government priority, promising positive changes in agriculture, the economy, and livelihoods in the northern region. He called for collective efforts from the state, administration, and people to build a developed, safe, humane, and prosperous Bangladesh.
