Dhaka: Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) has arrested 26 people accused in various cases and seized a large quantity of smuggled drugs and narcotics in the last 24-hour special operations conducted in the metropolis.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the special raids were carried out under the instructions of RpMP Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud. Different units of RpMP took part in these operations, achieving significant success in curbing crime and preventing the sale and consumption of drugs, as mentioned in a press release issued tonight.
The operations were supervised by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DB) of RpMP, Sanatan Chakraborty. The DB police, in separate operations, arrested four individuals and seized Yaba tablets and ganja from their possession in the metropolis.
Additionally, various operations conducted by the Kotwali Metropolitan Police Station led to the arrest of 16 individuals, including four cheats and alleged drug dealers. They were found in possession of drugs such as Yaba tablets, ganja, and heroin.
Further arrests were made by different police stations within the metropolis. Hajirhat Metropolitan Police Station apprehended one person with Yaba tablets, Haragachh Metropolitan Police Station arrested two individuals with Yaba tablets, and Porshuram Metropolitan Police Station detained three men with stolen goods.
RpMP Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud emphasized that the RpMP remains active and committed to preventing crime, creating a drug-free society, and ensuring public safety.
