Dhaka: A mobile court today imposed a penalty of Taka 30,000 on a fuel filling station in Rangpur for dispensing less than 140 ml of octane per every 10 liters to consumers.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation was conducted by the Rangpur Divisional Office of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) in collaboration with the district administration. The information was disclosed in a BSTI press release issued this evening.
The raid was jointly led by Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate of Rangpur district administration, Tanzina Kabir, and Kazi Md Shahan. The mobile court fined Messer's City Filling Station, located at the Bangladesh Bank Intersection in the city, under section 29/46 of the Weights and Measures Act 2018 for the violation.
In a separate operation, the court advised Messer's Tajiz Foods Industries Ltd and Al Medina Live Bakery at different city locations to acquire Certification Marks (CM) License and Packaged Product Registration Certificate for their white bread and biscuit products.
The BSTI team included Field Officer (CM) Marufa Begum, and Inspectors (Metrology) Md Almas Mia and Md Nasir Uddin from the BSTI Divisional Office, Rangpur. The press release further stated that the Rangpur divisional BSTI office would continue such initiatives in the public interest.
