Dhaka: The traffic division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken a significant step in maintaining traffic order by filing 1,095 cases against vehicles for violating traffic regulations in the capital. The cases were documented during the DMP’s regular enforcement campaign aimed at enhancing traffic discipline, alleviating congestion, and boosting road safety across the city.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the campaign was conducted on Saturday (August 1) and is part of the DMP’s ongoing efforts to enforce traffic laws. The DMP emphasized the importance of these drives, urging both motorists and pedestrians to adhere to traffic regulations to maintain order on the roads. The campaign also resulted in the dumping of 383 motor vehicles and the towing of 260 vehicles.
A media spokesperson from the DMP disclosed that the Traffic-Ramna Division filed 85 cases, which included actions against buses, trucks, covered vans, CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and motorcycles. Similarly, the Traffic-Lalbagh Division filed 110 cases, targeting buses, trucks, covered vans, CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and motorcycles.
The Traffic-Motijheel Division took action by filing 212 cases against various types of vehicles, while the Traffic-Wari Division registered 73 cases. The Traffic-Tejgaon Division contributed by filing 158 cases, with the Traffic-Mirpur Division adding 167 cases to the tally.
Moreover, the Traffic-Uttara Division recorded 187 cases, and the Traffic-Gulshan Division filed 103 cases. These efforts are part of the DMP’s continuous pursuit of ensuring discipline on the city’s roads, as highlighted in the DMP release.
