AGM of DNCC’s LOCC Elects Omar Sadat as New President

Gulshan: The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the 'Law and Order Coordination Council' (LOCC), established to maintain law and order and ensure safe living for citizens, took place today at the LOCC office in Gulshan Police Station. During the meeting, Barrister Omar Sadat was unanimously elected as the President, and Mr. Shamsul Arefin was chosen as the Secretary General for the 2026-2028 term.

According to United News of Bangladesh, this platform operates through a joint initiative involving the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), as well as the societies of Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara, and Niketan, along with the Gulshan Youth Club. DNCC Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton attended as the chief guest, while DMP Joint Commissioner (Traffic) Mokhles Islam and RAJUK Chairman Riazul Islam were among the special guests.

Speakers at the meeting highlighted LOCC's significant role since its inception in enhancing the overall law and order situation within the Gulshan police station area. Through the coordinated efforts of the police, city corporation, local residents, various societies, and the public, the area has transformed into one of the country's safest and most orderly regions.

LOCC's efforts in making Gulshan a 'zero crime' model area through the implementation of modern CCTV surveillance, effective community policing, and strategic crime prevention measures received particular recognition. Newly elected President Barrister Omar Sadat emphasized, "The main driving force of LOCC is the unprecedented partnership between government agencies, law enforcement agencies, and civil society. In the next two years, through coordinated initiatives, we will continue to work tirelessly to make Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara, and Niketan areas safer, technology-friendly, and orderly."

The event was attended by senior officials of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police and RAJUK, representatives from related societies, and leaders of the Gulshan Youth Club. Following the meeting, attendees congratulated the newly elected committee and expressed hope to further accelerate LOCC's overall activities.
