Natore: BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Friday stated that attempts were being made to deliberately create an atmosphere of terror and instability for political gain, warning that the return of 'defeated forces' would threaten everyone's safety.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Rizvi was speaking at a discussion marking the Nazrul Year, organised by the Natore District Council in the evening. He accused an unnamed political party of trying to spoil the environment by 'instigating children'-a reference likely aimed at the opposition alliance of Jamaat e Islami and NCP.
Referring to the political situation after August 5, 2024, Rizvi emphasized the need to acknowledge the consequences of the political culture developed since that date. He highlighted the importance of criticism in a democratic context but condemned personal and 'dirty' attacks, which he believes only breed societal hatred.
He specifically mentioned Sheikh Hasina, saying, 'This is what Sheikh Hasina did. They have now fled.' Rizvi warned that efforts to artificially create violence and terrorism would not benefit anyone, stressing that if the defeated forces return, safety would be compromised. He cautioned that those attempting to 'fish in troubled waters' by creating unrest could ultimately become victims of their own actions.
Rizvi also called on the opposition to abandon what he described as 'double standards.' The event was also addressed by National Parliament Whip Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu, Natore District Council Administrator Rahim Newaz, Nazrul researcher Munshi Abu Saif, and Golam Mostafa.
