Dhaka: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-10 have uncovered a Yaba manufacturing operation in Keraniganj and arrested four alleged drug traffickers along with Yaba tablets, raw materials, and manufacturing equipment. The arrestees were identified as Alamgir alias Ande, 40, Ali Arman, 36, Shahjahan, 40, and Sonia, 30.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the raid was conducted around 10:10 pm on Thursday in the Madhyachar South Balurchar area under the Keraniganj Model Police Station. Commander of RAB-10 Additional Deputy Inspector General Mohammad Asaduzzaman made the disclosure at a news briefing held at the RAB Media Centre in Karwanbazar.
During the operation, RAB recovered 1,968 Yaba tablets with an estimated market value of Taka 5,90,400, Yaba production materials, five mobile phone sets, and a weighing scale. RAB stated that Alamgir is an accused in three narcotics cases filed with Rampura, Kamrangirchar, and Mohammadpur Police Stations in Dhaka.
The suspects had been producing Yaba using locally collected raw materials and supplying the drugs to different parts of the country, including Dhaka. They have been handed over to the concerned police station for legal action under the Narcotics Control Act.
