Dhaka: Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister Abu Zafar Md. Zahid Hossain today emphasized the critical role of tree plantation in maintaining environmental balance, urging citizens to contribute to a greener future by planting more trees.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Minister Zahid made these remarks while inaugurating a three-day tree plantation campaign and tree fair at Nawabganj upazila in Dinajpur. The event, themed 'Let's decorate the country through tree plantation, Bangladesh first,' aims to motivate people to plant fruit-bearing, forest, and medicinal trees across the nation.

He highlighted the benefits of planting trees, encouraging citizens to utilize vacant spaces around their homes for sapling plantations. Trees provide long-term advantages such as fruits, environmental protection, and medicinal support, he noted.

Dr. Zahid assured that the government is continuously working towards people's welfare, social security, and overall development. Following the inauguration, he initiated repair and beautification work of the Nawabganj Upazila Parishad auditorium and distributed sewing machines, educational stipends, and financial assistance to beneficiaries under various government programs.

The event saw the participation of government officials, public representatives, teachers, students, and local dignitaries.
