Dhaka: Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator Bir Muktijoddha Md Abdus Salam has announced a seven-day special 'crash program' in Kamrangirchar aimed at controlling dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases, alongside ensuring proper waste management.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the announcement was made by the DSCC administrator today after the Jumma prayers at a mosque adjacent to the Kamrangirchar Eidgah ground. The program will involve daily mosquito eradication drives over the course of the next seven days, aiming to alleviate the ongoing dengue situation in the area.
Residents were urged by the DSCC administrator to remain vigilant and proactive in preventing water stagnation in their homes, yards, and drains, which are common breeding grounds for mosquitoes. He emphasized the importance of community involvement in maintaining cleanliness and preventing disease outbreaks.
In addition to the health initiatives, the DSCC administrator also highlighted ongoing development projects in Kamrangirchar. Notably, the Inner Circular Road project is in progress to upgrade the Kamrangirchar Road into an eight-lane thoroughfare, a move expected to significantly enhance communication and transform the area's overall landscape.
Furthermore, he appealed to the community to avoid dumping garbage and polythene into the old Buriganga River and to actively participate in preventing encroachment. The administrator also called for collective social resistance against issues such as drugs, extortion, and illegal occupation, underscoring the importance of keeping roads, drains, and playgrounds free from encroachment and maintaining a clean environment.
