Dhaka: State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku today announced plans to transform DC Lake, a popular recreational spot in Tangail town, into a mini tourist destination. Tuku shared this vision while addressing journalists after inaugurating a cleanup drive aimed at removing water hyacinths and accumulated waste from the lake.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the State Minister emphasized that DC Lake plays a crucial role in enhancing the beauty and environment of Tangail town. He urged the community to contribute to the lake's maintenance, underscoring its significance as both a recreational space and environmental asset. The cleanup process will be conducted in phases to ensure comprehensive restoration.
Tuku also outlined plans to develop the adjacent char area into a major tourist attraction, with initiatives underway to realize this goal. He revealed that the lake will be utilized for fish cultivation, which will benefit local residents economically. Once revitalized, DC Lake is expected to serve as a modern recreational facility for the community.
The State Minister reiterated his pre-election commitment to establish a modern tourist destination in Tangail, affirming that efforts are actively progressing. During the event, Tuku inspected various parts of the lake and actively participated in the cleanup efforts, directing authorities to maintain regular cleanliness activities.
The cleanup drive witnessed participation from BNP leaders, activists, members of local voluntary organizations, and residents. Local leaders and administrative officials were also present, demonstrating community support for the initiative.
