Dhaka: Health officials today announced the recording of 467 new cases of dengue infections, with at least three fatalities reported in the past 24 hours.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported that the cases were distributed across various divisions. Specifically, 67 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 69 in Chattogram division, 70 in Dhaka division, 57 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and 62 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC). Additionally, 66 cases were reported in Khulna division, 21 in Mymensingh division, 32 in Rajshahi division, 20 in Rangpur division, and 3 in Sylhet division.
Since the onset of the dengue outbreak this year, Bangladesh has recorded a total of 53 deaths and 15,157 infections. In comparison, the previous year witnessed 413 dengue-related deaths and 102,861 infections. Looking ahead, projections for 2024 suggest 575 fatalities and 101,214 infections due to dengue.
