Dhaka: LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir emphasized today that the active cooperation of doctors is essential for building a stronger and more people-oriented healthcare system. The minister delivered these remarks as the chief guest at the First Health Cadre Day 2026 program, organized by the BCS Health Cadre Association at a city hotel.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Fakhrul highlighted the insufficient number of doctors in the country compared to the population size. He pointed out that shortages of personnel and infrastructure at government hospitals are significant barriers to ensuring the desired standard of healthcare services. Consequently, he stressed the importance of collaboration between the government and medical professionals to enhance the effectiveness of the health sector.

The minister outlined the government's objective to eliminate longstanding irregularities in the health sector and establish a modern, people-friendly healthcare system. To achieve this, he urged doctors at the upazila and district levels to remain committed to their assigned workplaces and provide responsible and dedicated healthcare services to the public.

Fakhrul also emphasized the necessity of a safe working environment for doctors, assuring that the government would consider the legitimate demands of medical professionals. He reaffirmed his continued support for advancing the health sector and addressing the challenges faced by doctors.
