PM Distributes Prizes Among Winners of Notun Kuri Sports at Bangladesh Army Stadium

Dhaka: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today distributed prizes among the national level winners of the Notun Kuri Sports 2025-26, a nationwide sporting event organised to discover hidden sporting talents among boys and girls aged between 12 and 14 at grassroots and encouraging regular participation in sports. The Prime Minister enjoyed the grand finale of the event at the Bangladesh Army Stadium in the capital this afternoon and distributed the prizes among the winners.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event, which seeks to nurture young sporting talents, saw a grand closing ceremony featuring the boys' and girls' football finals along with the boys' and girls' 100-metre sprint events. The Prime Minister, who arrived at the venue at 4:00 pm, was greeted with thunderous applause from thousands of young spectators. After entering the stadium, Tarique Rahman waved to the children and young athletes, exchanging greetings and touring the ground to interact warmly with students seated in the galleries.

The Notun Kuri Sports event, held under the supervision of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, was formally launched on May 2 at Sylhet District Stadium. The event carried the slogan 'On the path to dream, With victory' and was themed 'Krira Hole Pesha, Paribar Pabe Bharosha (if sports becomes a profession, family will find security)'.

According to the organisers, around 170,000 young athletes from districts and upazilas across the country participated in the regional phase of the competition, which included eight sporting disciplines. The national-level events were later held at different venues in the capital.
