Dhaka: Khulna City Corporation (KCC) and the Research and Design Consultancy Unit (RDCU) of the Architecture Discipline at Khulna University (KU) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to conduct a feasibility study for the construction of the proposed Zia Hall Complex at Shibbari intersection, the city's central hub.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the MoU was signed at the GIZ auditorium of the Nagar Bhaban in the afternoon in the presence of senior officials from both organisations. The agreement aims to explore the potential development and functionality of the Zia Hall Complex, which is expected to become a significant landmark in the city.
KCC Chief Engineer Mashiuzzaman Khan signed the agreement on behalf of the city corporation. Representing Khulna University, RDCU Director Professor Dr. Sheikh Sirajul Hakim signed the MoU. The collaboration between these two entities marks a strategic effort to enhance the infrastructure and urban planning in Khulna.
Among others present at the signing ceremony were KCC Chief Executive Officer Rajib Ahmed, Secretary Md. Reza Rashid, Chief Revenue Officer Rahima Sultana Bushra, Chief Planning Officer Abir Ul Jabbar, Chief Health Officer Dr. Sharif Shammiul Islam, Architect Rezbina Khanam, KU Architecture Discipline Head Professor Rumana Asad, faculty member Dr. K.H. Mahfuz-ud-Darain, Md. Sheikh Maruf Hossain, and other officials from both institutions. The gathering underscored the importance of this initiative to the future urban landscape of Khulna.
