Dhaka: The government has issued a gazette notification increasing the monthly allowances and financial benefits for valiant freedom fighters, families of martyred freedom fighters, and war-wounded freedom fighters. The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs released the notification.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the notification outlines increases in monthly honorarium, festival allowance, medical allowance, and special grants for different categories of freedom fighters and their families. These enhancements will be effective from July 1, 2026, aiming to ensure the welfare, dignity, and social security of freedom fighters.
Based on the new notification, gallantry award-winning freedom fighters titled Bir Uttam will receive a monthly honorary allowance of Taka 30,000, along with a festival allowance of Taka 10,000, a Victory Day allowance of Taka 5,000, and a Bengali New Year allowance of Taka 2,000. Meanwhile, freedom fighters with the titles of Bir Bikram and Bir Pratik will receive a monthly allowance of Taka 25,000, along with similar festival and special occasion allowances.
For the families of martyred freedom fighters, the notification specifies a monthly basic honorarium of Taka 23,000, a medical allowance of Taka 2,000, a food allowance of Taka 5,000, a festival allowance of Taka 23,000, and a Bengali New Year allowance of Taka 2,000.
Additionally, the monthly honorarium for war-wounded freedom fighters has been categorized based on the degree of disability. Category 'A' war-wounded freedom fighters (96 to 100 percent disabled) will receive Taka 30,000 per month, while category 'B' (61 to 95 percent disabled) will receive Taka 28,000, category 'C' (20 to 60 percent disabled) will receive Taka 23,000, and category 'D' (1 to 19 percent disabled) will receive Taka 20,000.
