Dhaka: The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized a large consignment of Indian sarees, chocolates, and a mini truck worth about Tk 68.26 lakh in two separate anti-smuggling drives conducted by the Feni Battalion (4 BGB) in Feni border areas early today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operations were carried out based on a tip-off received by the border security forces. A special patrol team from Khejuria Border Outpost (BOP) initiated a raid around 3:00 am, approximately 500 yards inside Bangladesh from border pillar 2181/MP. The operation was led by Naib Subedar Md Abdul Malek, as mentioned in a press release by the Paramilitary Force.
During the raid, the team discovered 315 Indian premium-quality sarees along with an abandoned mini truck. The seized goods were valued at approximately Tk 67.25 lakh.
In a separate operation, at around 12:50 am, another patrol team from Devpur BOP, led by Subedar Jamshed Alam, executed a raid about 300 yards inside Bangladesh from border pillar 2186/8-S. This operation resulted in the seizure of 3,417 pieces of Indian chocolates worth about Tk 1,00,950, the release added.
