MEP Hi-Tech to Invest Tk 200cr in Mirsarai Economic Zone

Dhaka: MEP Hi-Tech is investing Tk 200 crore to set up an electrical and electronics manufacturing facility at the National Special Economic Zone in Mirsarai, Chattogram. The company will develop the facility on around 10 acres of land, focusing on producing electrical and electronic products such as wires, switch-sockets, fans, LED lights, and circuit breakers.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, MEP Group has been a key player in Bangladesh's electrical and electronics sector since 1974. The project is anticipated to create direct and indirect employment for approximately 2,000 people once it reaches full production capacity. The company plans to commence operations within the next year.

BEZA Executive Member and Additional Secretary (Investment and Development) Saleh Ahmed inaugurated the construction of the MEP Hi-Tech Industrial Park at a ceremony held this morning. MEP Group Managing Director Dr. Md Jahangir Alam Chakladar and Chairman Shafiul Ahmed Chakladar attended the ceremony as special guests.

Saleh Ahmed highlighted that the investment will significantly contribute to the country's industrialisation efforts. He noted that the project would promote technology-driven production, foster import-substituting industries, generate employment opportunities, and diversify exports. BEZA is committed to providing the necessary support to cultivate an investment-friendly environment and assist investors in rapidly establishing industries.
